The University of Melbourne produces the highest number of top-ranked Australia-trained vision scientists
A recent journal article has ranked Australia-trained optometrists using the h-index. The h-index is a robust single-number metric of an academic's impact, combining quality with quantity. Over half the names indicated on table 2 have graduated from the University of Melbourne (UoM) and 15 out of the top 20 are from UoM. 80% of the current academic staff within the Department of Optometry & Vision Sciences have an h-index in the top 50 as per table 2.
