Summer Research Studentships in Optometry & Vision SciencesThe Department of Optometry & Vision Sciences is offering a number of summer research studentships for suitably qualified students with an interest in pursuing future studies through an honours program or research higher degree. Internships are normally offered for a 6-8 week period during December - February each year, and provided financial support of $235 per week (maximum value of $1880) in 2007. Applicants should have recently completed the third year of the Bachelor of Optometry or the second year of the Bachelor of Biomedical Science, or a Bachelor of Science, with a major in an appropriate science area (not limited to vision science). Students with an interest in the biological and physical sciences, neuroscience, psychophysics or patho-physiology of disease are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of academic performance in their studies to-date. Potential applicants should contact relevant Research Lab Heads to discuss possible projects, and submit a letter of application (approx 1 page) including the names of 2 referees (academic or personal). Those applicants not currently enrolled at Melbourne University should include a copy of their current academic transcript. Melbourne University students should include their student number on their letter of application. Applications should be submitted to the Department Office no later than 23 November 2007. |
